How and Why

By digging the hole into the ground, Oakley Sign Installation is able to provide a much more stable post which will not lean over time. Since the sign is a representation of your company's image, we do everything that we can to make sure that it represents it well.

On average, the post is dug 18" - 24" into the ground. This is what is needed to provide the unsurpassed stability...especially in windy areas such as Chicago.

This has been considered, but not used since over time (as little as a month) the post will begin to lean. This does not allow the sign to represent the real estate company in the most professional manner. The sign is often a potential buyers first impression of the real estate professional and we want to make sure that it is a positive impression.

Our installers carry buckets of dirt in their vans each day. When the post is removed, the hole is filled and packed with the dirt to make it level with the rest of the yard. We take every precaution to insure that the holes do not present any danger once filled in.

Yes. Our installers are equipped with an auger to assist in making the hole. In fact, it is easier for a hole to be dug in winter than driving a steel stake into the ground.

The key to marketing is to standout from the other products on the market. In this case, the signpost is that opportunity. Our signpost adds a more contemporary look to the standard colonial post. Standing over 6' tall with a 2” x 4” crossbar (with its angled ends to provide a roof like dimension to the post), OSI's signpost will help your sign standout among the other listings.

Yes! OSI's posts generally stand 6' - 6' 6” above ground. This is almost a foot taller than the others in the Chicagoland area. This is significant because it presents the sign panel at the optimal viewing height…eye level (this technique is also used with the DOT signs). Generally speaking, the center of the sign hung from our posts is approximately 5' above ground. This makes it much easier for potential buyers to see the sign and information while driving by the property.

Unlike other posts, OSI's post does not have a slot for the rider on the top crossbar. The reason that this slot is not there is because for a slot to work, it must be wide enough to hold up to a ¼” thick material. When the slot is that wide, it does not hold the thinner materials tight, which enables it to fall out easily. There have been several cases in the past few months where riders have blown out of the slots in windy conditions and the rider has hit people walking down the sidewalk. This is a safety hazard that we do not want to expose the real estate company or homeowner to.

Riders can be installed on the top crossbar by screwing the rider directly into the wood. This will not only hold the rider tight, but also insures that it will not fall out. OSI will install the rider at time of the installation at no charge to make this easier for the real estate agent.
