.040 Aluminum is a rigid material that hangs straight and will not rust if chipped or scratched. It is one of our most popular materials and works equally well with any of our sign posts or frames. It comes with a high-gloss, powder-coated finish and is recommended for all seasons. Note that a little extra care is required when handling this material to prevent corner bending. Optionally, .040 Aluminum is available with 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.

.063 Aluminum is a rigid material that hangs straight and will not rust if chipped or scratched. PVC is the hardest of the plastic materials we offer, so like the metals it hangs very straight. It is recommended for use with any of our sign posts or frames. PVC comes with a gloss matte finish and is recommended for all seasons. PVC is also available with 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
Poly or polyethylene is a popular, affordable plastic material which is extremely durable. It has a soft matte finish and performs well in all seasons. Poly material will "bow" so it is not recommended for hanging from posts, but can be used with any of our many sign frames. If you’d like, we can provide poly with our 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
4 mm corrugated plastic or cor-x is non-yellowing, lightweight, durable, weatherproof, and inexpensive, but can be translucent in bright light. There are flutes in the sign’s center, as this material is primarily used for directional signs with wire stakes. The material can be used as a main sign panel when used with a frame, but is not recommended for use as a hanging sign from a post. This material is also available with the 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
8 mm corrugated plastic or cor- x is non-yellowing, lightweight, weatherproof, very durable, and rigid. This material is twice as thick as the popular 4 mm corrugated plastic, which makes it perfect for hanging signs, commercial signs, and heavy-duty directional signs. This material is also available with 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
Steel is a rigid material that does not bend or bow. Steel can be used with any sign post, or placed in any frame, and is recommended for all seasons. The material comes with a galvanized under coating, and a polyester top-coat for rust and corrosion resistance. Please note however: Rusting will occur on any area that is chipped, worn, or scratched. This material is available with the 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
As you’ve probably noticed, we offer 3M Reflective Vinyl coating on all of our sign materials with the exception of Styrene.
The 3M™ Reflective Vinyl truly is the ultimate in outdoor sign visibility. How reflective is it? Well, it’s the same material used on stop signs and other major traffic signs. The coating not only provides increased visibility of your listings at night, but also adds a soft protective layer to any material it’s applied to. If you are looking for the ultimate in sign materials then we highly recommend selecting a material with this amazing reflective coating.
This vinyl material is .030 thick. Perfect for taking your message on the road. Adheres to steel car doors only (not plastic or abs). Can cause damage to the finish of your car if it is not properly maintained in accordance with our "Magnetic Care Guidelines".
Sign Shield is an Oakley-exclusive laminate film that greatly enhances the durability and longevity of your sign panels. This laminate creates a barrier between the ink on your panel and anything that might harm your imprint. While we can't guarantee your sign will not scratch, our internal testing showed that Sign Shield withstands repeated strikes from sharp objects without damaging the ink beneath it. Sign Shield will also greatly increase the lifespan of the ink on your panel. Lab testing has shown it can extend the lifespan of commercial ink by up to four years.
3mm Alumibond is an aluminum clad material (ACM) which is comprised of two pre-painted sheets of .012 aluminum with a solid polyethylene core. This material is the flattest on the market, thus excellent for hanging panels from posts as it will not bow. Superb outdoor durability makes this a great choice for all weather conditions and temperatures. Material is approximately one half the weight of aluminum. Optionally, AlumiBond is available with 3M™ Reflective vinyl coating for greater nighttime visibility.
The finish of brushed alumibond is similar to a brushed nickel finish on bathroom fixtures or a brushed stainless steel finish on kitchen appliances. Please note, 3M Reflective vinyl coating will obscure the brushed effect and is therefore not recommended with this product.
